How do I Register for CoyoteCon?
Instructions are here.
How does an online conference work?
Each panel will take place in one of four chatrooms. See the chat bar at the bottom of the page. Note: to participate, you either need to register for a WordPress id/password on the Coyote Con site or you can login using Facebook or Gtalk.
Each panel will have 1-4 panelists and one person will act as the moderator.
At the beginning of the chat, the panelists will provide a brief bio, and then each person will “speak” about the topics for 5-15 mins. Please save your questions for the end of the talk.
The moderator will open up the chat to questions for the last 20-30 mins. Type ? if you have a question. The moderator will keep a running list of attendants with questions and will call on you one by one.
Each workshop will last an hour, but if the chat is rocking and rolling and people are having a great time, then by all means, continue the fun! The schedule has been set up to not run into time issues with back-to-back talks in the same room.
Many of the panelists will be giving away door prizes, including free book downloads.
Why do I have to create a user id/password?
Our software, Cometchat, requires users to login or you can’t enter the chatrooms. You can set up a WordPress id on the main Coyote Con site, or simply use Facebook or Gtalk (Google talk) instead. Note: this is NOT the same id/password that you might choose to set up for the forums — the chat software is separate from the forum software. The forums are optional ways to connect with people and are not used or required for the panels.
How Do I Create a Coyote Con id?
In the right-hand sidebar, go down to “Meta” and select “Register.” Alternatively, you can use Facebook or Gtalk to sign in to the chatrooms instead. Click on “Who’s Online” and then “Connect to Facebook/Gtalk.” If you continue to have issues accessing the chat rooms, try clearing out your browser cache.
My id/password from the previous Coyote Con isn’t working. What do I do?
This is an entirely new site with new software and hosting. All contact information from the first Coyote Con was lost. Please set up a new id.
How can I make the little bitty chat window bigger?
Click “popout” in the gray menu bar of the chat window.
How can I make the text bigger?
Windows: Ctrl + or Mac: Cmd +
How much does it cost to register for Coyote Con?
Nothing, it’s free! Joely Sue Burkhart is hosting the conference in memory of Drollerie Press, the founder of the inaugural Coyote Con. As a small indie press, Drollerie didn’t have a lot of money and understood that many writers of SFF and horror don’t have a lot of money either. Yet we share a love for all kinds of books, the weirder and more fantastical the better. The best way to show your thanks: if you can afford to donate a modest attendance fee, simply buy a book from some of our panelists!
