I’ve had the chatroom software installed (Cometchat) and I admit that the learning curve has been a bit harder than I expected. If you stop by and try out the chat room (ETA: see the chat bar at the bottom of the page), what do you think of it? You ought to be able to try things out as a guest. If you’d like to create an account, I believe you’ll need to register on the Coyote Con site, and then Cometchat *ought* to recognize you.
I’ll be out here a lot over the next few weeks, so feel free to chat with me if you see me and let me know what you think about Cometchat!
Also, if you set up an account in the forum, you might email me (joelysueburkhart AT gmail DOT com) if I don’t approve you right away. I got spammed hard when the forums first opened so I closed open registration to approval only. If your user id isn’t easily recognized as a non-spammer, I might be slow to approve you.
Took a second for me to realize the chatroom feature was part of the bottom of my screen. After using FB for so long, I’ve learned to ignore that part of my web browser.
Maybe put a note somewhere stating that’s where it’s at so people don’t sit staring at the site in confusion.

Thanks for the feedback, Zenobia.
Hi Joely-Sue! I have registered at your site (as you know). Am now looking to mooch around the chatrooms. Now, I went to the CometChat site and it says that you *should* be able to connect to CometChat via GTalk/Jabber. This would be a great option that might bypass some issues, but I need to know…what’s the URL to try it out? The one you gave is merely a link to CometChat itself. How do I launch the chat window? Am I missing something? Which is quicker, the African swallow or the European swallow?
Kaz, I added the gtalk/facebook extension if you want to try it out. Click on Who’s Online and it’ll give you an option to sign in with Gtalk or Facebook. Of course now it looks like you might not have to register on the Coyote Con site — which is perhaps a good thing. I guess we can try it both ways and see what works the best.
Kaz, if you stop back by to see these changes, you might need to clear your browser cache. I’ve had to do that several times as I tweak the various settings.
I’ve made a complete hash of signing up for the chatroom. And just signing in with FB doesn’t seem to work (or maybe, it just doesn’t work for me! going into full on tech-paranoid-conspiracy mode). *sigh* I know it’s probably something I’ve done, but … help! I can’t even remember my password for the website, and I know I registered. Joely Sue, I think I’m bringing down the IQ level of your panelists
Check your email, Jenny! I sent you a new password.
And solved all my problems! Thanks, Joely
